If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of Giants.

- Isaac Newton

This is where we own up to all the bits and pieces we have begged or borrowed (but not stolen) in order to produce what you see on this web site.

The site itself is produced using Sock, using a kit which was in part inspired by Website from Norman Walsh. You can find Website via the DocBook page. The only physical part of Norm's code which we reused is the graphics, listed in reference form here. Sometimes it is easier to reinvent a wheel than to understand one made by someone else, but it helps to have seen it.

Sock would have been very much harder to produce without the SAXON XSLT Processor from Michael Kay, see http://saxon.sourceforge.net/. Thanks Mike for a high quality product.

Sock also uses the DocBook XSL Stylesheets by Norman Walsh, published at http://docbook.sourceforge.net/. Another high quality product with generous licensing terms. Thanks Norm!

Last but not least, thanks to these people for comments on the early versions of Sock:

  • Laurence Vanhelsuwé of Telework Software. See the WOAD website http://www.worldonadisc.com for a neat Java product and some pictures of North West Scotland.
  • Kevin MacKenzie of fileanta: http://www.fileanta.com. Web site design and implementation, especially dynamic (data driven) sites.
